Australian Callistemons are respected world wide for their tremendous flowers, ease of growth and versatility in the garden.  During the eighties and nineties one Australian (Harry Infield) was collecting and breeding many new and exciting forms.  One of these is Callistemon ‘Demense Prestige Pink’.

Prestige Pink is probably the strongest, most floriferous of all the Bottlebrushes.  Starting with deep pink ageing to pale pink flowers it provides an exciting color focus for both native and mixed gardens. Flowering in spring and autumn with 125 to 150 mm long brushes it is a mecca for birds and is a great ‘Flora for Fauna’ plant.

Callistemon ‘Demense Prestige Pink’ grows to 2m tall and 1.5m wide.  It makes an excellent specimen tree and also magnificent flowering hedge.   It will tolerate both wet and dry conditions, moderate frosts and prefers full sun.  The flowers cut well and add color to any floral arrangement.  Prune and feed after flowering in late spring and autumn to keep it healthy and free flowering.  Plant with summer flowering exotics like Penstemons and Agapanthus  ‘Purple Cloud’ for extended floral color or with natives like Banksia ericifolia ’Little Eric’ or Westringia ‘Smokie’ for a bird haven.
