There are numerous cultivars of Juniperus x media from all around the world.  ‘Winter Gold’ is a magnificent spreading golden form.  It has stunning golden foliage during late winter to early autumn and doesn’t burn as easily as other golden forms.  It has a spreading habit and will get to about 1.5m after five years with a spread of approximately 2.5 m.  ‘Winter Gold’  will grow in full sun to shade and tolerates all but very wet soils.  It doesn’t require a prune unless it is getting too large but an annual feed with Osmocote Outdoor Trees and Shrubs will keep it healthy and looking its best.

Juniperus x media  ‘Winter Gold’ is a New Zealand selection first seen by Clive Larkman at Bruntwood Nursery in Hamilton.  He was impressed by the depth of golden foliage.  It looks great in a conifer garden, as a specimen plant in the lawn, on the patio in a large tub or under large deciduous trees.  Plant in the garden with formal plants like Agapanthus ‘Purple Cloud’, Heuchera  ‘Green Spice’ or Gardenia ‘Fragrant Star’.
