Like most of the P. tennufolium cultivars, ‘Mountain Green’ is a vigorous grower that will perform in almost any garden in part to full sun, most soils, most frosts and with some coastal tolerance. It is an attractive rounded shrub to about 2.5 m tall by 2m wide. An annual feed of Osmocote Outdoor Trees and Shrubs slow release will keep it performing. The flowers are almost insignificant, heavily scented and occur in late spring.
‘Mountain Green’ looks excellent in large terracotta tubs on the verandah or patio. It is a reasonably quick grower and makes a good specimen plant, clipped hedge or an informal screen. Use as a back drop to a perennial garden and highlight the bright flowers of Penstemon and Salvias.
