Like all Penstemons, ‘Garnet’ (also known as Penstemon  ‘Andenken an Friedrich Hahn’) is a freely flowering compact shrub with a bushy habit.  It has a profusion of wine red flowers in late summer through to late  autumn.  The shrub grows to approximately 90 cm in height and 60cm in width.  Penstemon ‘Garnet’ prefers a sunny aspect with moist but well drained soil.  It will tolerate most frosts, and is one of the hardiest Penstemons.  A medium prune and feed with Osmocote Outdoors Trees & Shrubs after flowering will keep the plant compact and healthy.

Penstemons are a great addition to any garden.  They can be used as a specimen plant, tub plant,  en masse for an eye catching affect or even as a low hedge.  They look good interplanted with spring flowering perennials like Campanula  ‘Cherry Bells’, Heuchera  ‘Green Spice’, or as a backdrop to the small Lavenders like Lavandula ‘Plum’ or Lavandula dentata  ‘Royal Crown’

Penstemon ‘Garnet’ is one of a range of Penstemons collected from around the world by Larkman Nurseries.  Collect a range to add color and variety to your garden.
