Grasses have been come quite popular over the past few years but some say they have no flowers and so no color.  Well this stunner proves that wrong.  Carex elata ‘Bowles Golden’ has graceful golden leaves that stand out as much as any yellow flower.  The color is most flamboyant in full sun but will still show golden chartreuse in part shade.  As it is a bog sedge it will need constant moisture and even likes being partly submerged.  It has nice arching plumes of bronzed flowers in early summer.

Bowles Golden Sedge will grow to about 40cm tall and cover a square metre or so over time.  It will perform well in large tubs and enjoys a biannual application of Seasol and Powerfeed.  Divide in spring if the clump gets too large.  Plant with Hosta, Heuchera and Tiarella for a stunning blend of colors and foliage.
