February - Valentines Day is coming and Australia Day has gone - with a bit of controversy. Isn't it time everyone just focused on the garden and left the protesters to do their protesting? Warm but not too hot,let's hope it stays that way.
With the move to flowers and colour we should see some demand for the traditional Hydrangea. It is another of those plants that were grown in the thousands when I entered the industry (and no Adam was not a boy then) but dropped off in the dry years. We have been collecting and have a few nice ones available this month.
Another genus that has been growing is Eucomis or Pineapple Lily. We have plenty available in tubes. Buy and pot up now so that they can bulk up before winter and make a fantastic show in 17 or 20 cm pots next summer.
